Our Story
The Friends of Rugby NT Incorporated was founded in 1994 with its charter being to present at least one major rugby event annually to raise funds for junior rugby in the Northern Territory.
In three decades Friends of Rugby has pulled off some wonderful events and these events have welcomed teams from all over the country as well as international teams.
Along the way we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for junior rugby in the territory. this has helped clubs through the season by supplying training equipment and rugby balls.
As we move into 2026 there is a lot of excitement around rugby union and some positive growth across the territory. Our junior numbers continue to grow within the local clubs with a range of opportunities open for our junior players as young as 14 able to travel interstate and be seen playing on a national level.
In April 2026 Friends of Rugby partnered with NT Rugby Union to help facilitate the running of the Master 10’s competition while Friends of Rugby will continue to focus on the long lunch and other ways we can support junior rugby from a grass roots level.
